Muslim Genocide in India

For years, since 1947, we are watching anti-muslim sentiments and hateful actions in India. Indian partition of 1947 caused the migration of 1.5 million people across the border from both sides. Furthermore, almost 1 million people were killed in this partition. Currently, in India, there is a toxic narrative against minorities especially Muslims. Their persecution has become a norm under Hindu driven government. Since 2014, when Modi took over India, the Muslim genocide has been made. Last year in December 2021, a three-day Hindu conference took place. In this conference, Hindu monks and activists took an oath to turn India, a secular republic constitutionally, into a Hindu nation. Even if they would have to kill anyone.

Modi’s Silence is a Kindler

Three years back, in 2019, anti-CAA protests took place from December 2019 to March 2020. Anti-CAA protests refer to anti-Citizenship Amendment Act protests. During these protests, Modi told that protestors could be recognized by their clothes. His people comprehended his coded message easily. It happened when his people were attacking protesting Muslims of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Karnataka, and elsewhere. Delhi police were clearly expressing the slogan “Delhi police lath chalao, hum tumhary saath hain” (Use your sticks, we are with you).

Righ-wing Hindu Nationalists

Earlier, right-wing Hindu nationalists were preaching their agendas online but now it has come to the streets. They have beaten fruit vendors on the streets. Their earnings were robbed. Some of them were tortured on the pretext of luring Hindu women and convert to Muslims. They were threatened with prosecution under antiterrorism law, and many more acts.

Gurugram, an Indian city, is a major technology center near South Delhi. Recently in 2022, here the Hindu Nationalists confronted Indian Muslims during Friday prayer. They interrupted the Friday prayer by chanting “Jai Shri Ram” which means “Hail lord Ram”.

“Dharma-Sansad” – A Three-day conference 2021

In Dharma Sansad, a three-day conference, the Hindu nationalists targeted the Muslims. This conference caused the most alarming call for violence in recent years. The right-wing Hindu monks asked other Hindus to gather and kill Muslims. When he was asking in a crowded auditorium, his audience included religious and influential people also.

Pooja Shakun Pandey, a leader of Hindu Mahasabha addressed while referring to the country’s Muslims, said: “If 100 of us are ready to kill two million of them, then we will win and make India a Hindu nation”. She is the same person who calls India’s founding father, Mr. Gandhi, a “traitor” and blames him for the partition. She even participated in the ceremony celebrating and worshipping the assassin of Mr. Gandhi, Nathuram Vinayak Godse.

Regarding this conference, officials of India said that they had registered a case against the organizers of the conference for promoting enmity, which can mean a jail term of 5 years. Even the opposition has restrained itself in its response. Since Modi came into power in 2014. He has maintained his characteristic silence, According to analysts, his silence can be interpreted by his most extreme supporters as a signal for protection. Furthermore, according to Political observers, the government is allowing hate speech for this kind of remaining silent in the face of calls for violence.

Is Modi really Silent anymore?

Modi promotes hatred and violent culture. He encodes the violence in anti-Muslim symbols which are widely known. He talks about the historic Muslim “aggressor”, and then the “ones who should be identified by clothes”. Moreover, he maintains the perfect balance without naming the targets. For four decades, we are hearing about Babur and Aurangzeb anecdotes by Indian politicians. India and the whole world understand what Babur’s son and Aurangzeb’s son mean.

His Stance on Babri Masjid Demolition

Even during the Babri Masjid demolition movement, we heard the chants of “Babur ki auladon ko…“. That movement was to deal with the children of Babur. What has Changed? As long as the sons of Babur and Aurangzeb are not eliminated, the threat of Babur and Aurangzeb taking over India remains alive.

Speech to Sikh Audience

Only a few days after the Haridwar conference, in a video speech to the audience in Lakhpat Gurdwara, he stated about Guru Tegh Bahadur’s sacrifice against Aurangzeb. He further stated that his heroic sacrifice taught us how should we combat terrorism and religious extremism while speaking in his regular dog whistle mode. Furthermore, he stated that during the Mughal rule, Sikh Gurus laid down their lives for the nation. He talked about Sikh Gurus as an opponent of Muslim rulers. Moreover, he praised the Gurus, as according to him, they were doing everything for the country.

Guru Gobind Singh fought with Hindu kings, but he didn’t mention him at all. In his messages, he clearly wanted to say what did they at that time, it should be done even today. It is owing to the same danger according to his perspective. But why is this dangerous? And where is this danger coming from? To whom do Indians have to fight?

Pakistan’s Stance on this Muslim Genocide

Pakistan condemned these reprimandable statements at the three-day conference in 2021. Pakistan’s foreign office said some statements on this. It said about the ongoing grave violations of the human rights of minorities, especially Muslims. Furthermore, it talked about anti-Muslim legislation by the union government of India and several BJP-ruled states, violence against Muslims by Hindutva groups, and the subsequent worsening trend of Islamophobia.

Way Forward

The United Nations, OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation), and other relevant human rights organizations should take a stand for Indian Muslims. They should hold India accountable for systematic human rights violations against minorities. They took immediate steps to prevent Indian minorities from impending genocide.

In conclusion, the following piece of an article, published in the Wire on 28 December 2021, we can add:

“The dangers posed by these calls for the massacre of Muslims cannot be fought without ousting the BJP(Bharatiya Janata Party) from power and boycotting the RSS. You cannot clean the sludge by wiping it over again and again unless you close the source from which poison is coming out.”
